Shane & Mark Upcoming Solo Album

AT LEAST two members of WESTLIFE will be dusting off their stools in 2013.

SHANE FILAN has signed a big-money record deal for his solo career and his old DA LOIFE bandmate MARK FEEHILY isn’t far behind.

Shane has signed on the dotted line with London Records and is already deep into work on a debut album, to be released in 2013.

And Mark has taken on PAUL McCARTNEY’S manager to help him carve out a solo career.

Mark is secretly doing his recording in Dublin

Mark (32) has been quietly recording in Grouse Lodge Studios in Co Westmeath — used by the Thriller singer in 2006.
He and Shane Filan (33) are the only two members of Westlife going solo, and while Shane works on a record deal in London, Mark has been enjoying the solitude of Grouse Lodge.
Mark has revealed he’s determined not to fade into obscurity.
“I didn’t want Westlife to end so I could make a solo record, but it’s something I will do now,” he said.
“In order to be happy in life I’m going to have to create.”
And he insists there’s no way of predicting who will be the big solo star from Westlife.
He said: “It’s only when we make music that it will be more apparent.”

Kerry Katona back Mark as X-Factor judge

Kerry Katona says: Westlife star Kian Egan has said he’d love to be a judge on The X Factor, but only if Louis Walsh stays.

I can’t help thinking his former bandmate Mark Feehily would be better.

Vocally, Mark is more passionate. I love Louis, but he seems to say the same things: ‘You’re a great recording artist, you’ll get a record deal!’ I reckon Sharon Osbourne should come back, her and Louis are great together.

Mark Feehily to launch solo career

Westlife member Mark Feehily has revealed plans to launch a solo career once the band has split up.

The group announced last month that they are to part ways after 14 years together, bowing out with a farewell tour in May 2012.

Feehily has said that he will use the split to be more creative with his solo music and is already considering several offers, such as writing a musical, the Sunday Mirror reports.

"I will definitely focus on making music. Singing is my gift and what I'm really good at. I want to make records for sure, and I want to direct music videos - something I've always wanted to do, but I've never had the chance.

"I'd also love to write a book and I've been approached to write a musical - it's a modern version of Taboo by Boy George. It's my chance to be creative."

Shane Filan has also spoken of his desire to embark on a solo career, saying all the band members including Kian Egan and Nicky Byrne have considered it.

Egan recently admitted that Simon Cowell hasn't contacted the band since they announced their split.
