STAFF at a paving centre in Co Londonderry were left star-struck earlier this week when an unassuming customer turned out to be a member of Westlife.
David Getty a sales executive at Tobermore Concrete said he had no idea he was speaking to Mark Feehily, when the superstar turned up unannounced with his father and brother on Tuesday.
“To be honest I didn’t recognise him, I just thought it was another customer coming along to see what products we had on offer,” said David.
But a few female members of staff were quickly alerted to the celebrity customer in their midst.
“We had no idea he was coming here. Someone else realised that it was Mark and the word quickly spread around the office, and soon quite a few of our female staff appeared from the office to see him and meet him.
The singer had travelled around 100 miles from Sligo to help his father pick out paving for his home.
“He [Mark] and his brother seemed to be quite aware of what paving they were after, they were doing all the talking.
“They were very down to earth, and they will place an order with us shortly.”
David added: “It’s great for the company to have someone so famous travelling all the way from Sligo up to Tobermore. They seemed very impressed by the range and quality of paving products we have here.
“I have dealt with a lot of customers over the last seven years, but none as famous as Mark, even though I didn’t recognise him.
