Mark Is Doubt If TW & 1D Will Still Be Around In 14 Years

ONE Direction and The Wanted may be conquering America – but Westlife’s Mark Feehily insists today’s boybands will never match their success.
Mark – who plays Glasgow’s SECC on Sunday with the rest of the boys – said: “We’ve been together 14 years and I don’t think I can predict any new boyband achieving what we achieved.
“I love JLS, One Direction and The Wanted. They are all fantastic. But nobody could say they’ll make it as far as 14 years or even as far as five years with three albums and greatest hits.”
Mark added: “I have nothing but love and wish the best for them. It’s been an amazing experience to have been around this long and I wish everybody could experience what it feels like to do that many singles and tours and meet so many producers.”
But the singer reckons the bands lack diversity. He said: “All Time Low by The Wanted could have been sung by JLS and a JLS single could have been sung by One Direction.
“They are in that period where people like their songs and their voices but they are still seeing how their sound will develop.”
Westlife’s Scottish dates are part of their farewell tour and Mark, 31, admits it has been odd adjusting to the fact the band will soon be no more.
He said: “I have to try and be a man about it and be strong and go into the future with a positive state of mind.
“I don’t know how it’s going to feel until it happens.”
First though, there is the gig this weekend.
Mark said: “It’s going to be a sad day. This is one of the places we look forward to coming back to.”
